The Accesible Friends Network - A UK charity operating over the internet to provide computer support, training and social activities for blind and partially sighted people worldwide.

Action for Blind People - Action for Blind People is one of the largest charities in the UK providing free and confidential support for blind and partially sighted people in all aspects of their lives. It inspires change and creates opportunities to enable people with sight loss to have equal voice and equal choice.

BBC Radio 4's In Touch Programme - In Touch is BBC Radio 4’s weekly programme presented by Peter White, giving news, views and information for people who are blind or partially sighted.

Calibre Audio Library - Provides the pleasure of reading to people with sight problems, dyslexia or physical disability. It is a free nationwide postal service of recorded books, with 19,000 members. There is a choice of over 8,000 titles, on MP3 format CDs, USB memory stick or ordinary cassettes.

Discovering Places - Discovering Places is London 2012’s Cultural Olympiad campaign to inspire communities across the UK to discover their local environment – with all its hidden places, extraordinary spaces and the stories they have to tell.

Guide Dogs - Charity providing guide dogs and other mobility services that increase the independence and dignity of blind and partially-sighted people.

Infosound - Information about living with sight loss. Infosound brings free, accessible, impartial and relevant information to blind and partially sighted people across the UK.
The information is provided in audio format and everything they offer is also freely available to anyone who is related to, who cares for or who supports a blind or partially sighted person in any way.

InSight Radio - Europe's first radio station for a blind or partially sighted audience, offering everything from your daily newspapers, movie reviews, TV, events and job guides, plus lots more.

The Living Paintings Trust - A free library of tactile books and packs, bringing the visual world to life for blind and partially sighted people.

Macular Disease Society - The Macular Disease Society is a self-help society for those diagnosed with any of the eye conditions encompassed by the overall name of Macular Disease.
The Society is dedicated to providing information and practical support so that those with the condition may make the most of their remaining vision.

National Talking Newspapers and Magazines - Providing national newspapers and magazines in audio and in digital full-text format for visually impaired and print disabled people who find reading a strain.

The National Talking Express - The National Talking Express and Media Round Up are monthly stereo audio magazines for the blind and partially sighted.

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists - The professional body for eye doctors, championing excellence in the practice of ophthalmology for the benefit of patients and the public. This extends to the practice of high quality ophthalmic care, not only in the UK, but worldwide.

Royal National Institute of Blind People - The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is one of the UK's leading charities offering information, support and advice to people with sight loss.

Seable - A holiday company that challenges the perceptions of disabilities, a social enterprise that delivers action holiday packages for blind and partially sighted people and people with other disabilities.  Offering stimulating and inspiring tailor-made holiday packages that improve self-confidence and develop transferable life skills.

Thomas Pocklington Trust - A leading provider of housing, care and support services for people with sight loss within the UK.

Talking Newspaper Federation - an umbrella organization that represents the interests of local Talking Newspapers in the UK. With a search facility to find your local Talking Newspaper.

Torch Trust for the Blind - A Christian organisation providing resources and activities for blind and partially sighted people worldwide.

Tourism for All UK - An independent charity supporting leisure and tourism opportunities for all, operating an information service to older and disabled people, and working with the industry and government to raise the standards of welcome to all guests.

TravelEyes - A travel company with a difference, providing holidays for both blind/visually impaired and sighted travellers, journeying together in a spirit of mutual independence.

Visionary - Visionary is the new name of the National Association of Local Societies for Visually Impaired People (NALSVI).
Visionary supports local sight loss charities in enabling blind and partially sighted people to achieve their full potential as independent citizens, and to influence and work in partnership with others to improve the quality of life for visually impaired people.

VISION 2020 UK - VISION 2020 UK is an umbrella organisation which facilitates greater collaboration and co-operation between organisations within the UK, which focus on vision impairment and operate on a national, regional or international basis.

There are around 2 million blind and partially sighted people living in the UK.
Only 4% of people who are registered blind see nothing at all.
Every day over 100 people start to lose their sight.
1 in 12 of us will become blind or partially sighted by the time we are 60.
Only 3% of blind and partially sighted people can read Braille.
70% of visually impaired people can read large print.
84% of visually impaired people of working age are unemployed.
